Do You Care About Your Company’s Reputation?
Reputation and Success
The importance of a good reputation for business and social success is widely recognised. Most of us therefore seek to enhance our own reputation or, at the very least, avoid putting it at risk. This is particularly true of people in the public eye, such as actors, singers and politicians. What applies to individuals applies to companies to an even greater extent.
Many companies and public figures now recognise the importance of (online) reputation management. It concerns how a company or individual is portrayed on the Internet, both through their own contributions and through content published by others, particularly on social media. For some time, services have been offered under the heading of reputation management with the aim of improving a client’s reputation as it appears online.
Our approach to reputation, however, goes well beyond what is commonly understood by the term reputation management. Dr Fischer-Hellmann helps clients take a proactive approach to their company’s reputation. What does this mean in practice?
Let us consider a company. Its reputation is shaped largely by how different groups perceive and evaluate everything about the company that is visible or otherwise accessible to them. These groups may include customers, business partners, suppliers, lenders, investors, employees, politicians and many others. A company may have a different reputation among each of these groups, and these reputations may even be diametrically opposed.
